The Claymation

Well, the most interesting project of my life was shortly completed. I guess that we all know, by the title, what it was. The Claymation. I would say that it was the most fun thing I've ever done, regarding school.

The most enjoyable part of this enjoyable project was probably the computer work. All the way from downloading the pictures, to putting them in iPhoto, to transferring them into iMovie HD, to editing them. I'd say editing was the best part. I understand computers pretty well, so it was the most easy part for me. I enjoy using technology. Although, Michael Schaaf had one more thing to teach me. I wasn't aware that you could select all of the pictures at once and change to duration, so, for the first few scenes, I had to change one after another after another. Very tedious, very annoying. But, once he had that nice feeling inside of him that some of us get sometimes, he was willing to tell me his secret. It made life much easier, and it was smooth sailing from then on.

The most difficult part of the project was definitely the picture taking. It was  sooooo  frustrating when the clay characters fell over. I would get very mad. One time the guys fell down so often. It made me really mad. But, we got over it, fixing the cardboard so that it would be more stable so the claymation figures were much stabler. The most challenging part of taking the pictures was one of the scenes we had. It had about four-hundred and forty pictures in it. I know, that's slightly ridiculous, but me and my partner learned from our mistakes, and from then on we kept it to a low minimum of two-hundred to two-hundred and fifty pictures per scene. It was a challenging ordeal, but it was worth it. I only regret those four-hundred and forty pictures, because it took the computer about an hour to process them.

The most important thing that I learned was that patients pays off. There was a lot of trial and error, but me and my partner kept on going, and we pulled through. It really took a lot of patients. I was on the verge of loosing it a few times. My camera would always move, and it took a lot of patients to figure out a solution, and not just punch the camera. Also, my parter was very obsessed with putting his voice into the clips. I know, It was a requirement, and I understand. But the way he would just keep going and going about how the world end if his voice wasn't in it! It would drive me nuts!! But I was patient, and me and my partner resolved a solution to it. Anyway, if you're patient, things normally turn out good!

So, there it is! The story of the amazing claymation. The ups and the downs. I hope you enjoy the claymation movie more than you did my long, boring account of what happened. We have the video on Google, Youtube, and here. Plenty of opportunities to enjoy the geniusness that went into it.

Please excuse the laughing at the begining, Chase put it in at the last moment.

So, there are a few up-coming movies that I'm really excited about seeing. One of them is Quantum Of Solace. For those of you who don't know what it's about, it's about James Bond. I think that it has some really exciting parts. I think that Daniel Craig is a pretty cool guy. Another movie that I'm looking forward to is the new Transporter movie, Transporter 3. I recently saw Transporter 2, and I was deeply impressed with the fighting scenes (I'm a big action buff), stunts, and plot. The guy who plays the Transporter is Jason Statham, probably my favorite action actor right now. Another movie that I'm very much looking forward to is X-Men Origins: Wolverine. The name is kind of strange, but it's basically like the biography of him. I really like Wolverine. He's probably like my second or third favorite comic book character behind Superman. It's the same guy playing Wolverine in the new movie as was in all of the other X-Men movies. Also, a good movie that's coming out, later than sooner, is the second Transformers movie, Revenge of the Fallen. The first Transformers movie was a huge hit all across the board. I saw it like seven times in the theaters. I thought that that movie (along with the new King Kong) had some of the best special effects that I'd ever seen in my life. The last movie that might look good is Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince. Honestly, I think that they might be getting slightly old, but, the books were so good (In my opinion) that I'm going to have to give it a try.

For those of you who don't know, I'm a huge baseball fan. I love playing and watching baseball (maybe not the Mariners, since they've been the worst team in baseball for about 10 years). The two teams that are in this World Series are the Tampa Bay Devil Rays, and the Philadelphia Phillies. I personally want the Rays to win, since they are one of the yongest teams in baseball, and their payroll(the overall amount of money they pay their players) is like a fourth of the Phillies. I originally wanted the Red Sox to win, but they lost to the Rays. Dustin Pedroia, one of the players on the Red Sox, is a distant relative of mine. But Boston won the World Series last year, and the Rays have never won one, so this is a good opportunity for them. The first game of the World Series will start this Wednesday. I am very excited about this, and will be begging my parents to let me stay up past my bedtime to watch the game. The Rays have had like the worst record in baseball behind the Mariners for along time, but they finally got good. The key players on the Rays are B.J. Upton, Carl Crawford, Evan Longoria, and Scott Kazmir. The Phillies have Ryan Howard, Jimmy Rollins and Chase Utley. The Phillies have a more rounded team than the Rays, but I guess you could say that the Rays have better players. So, if you're a baseball fan, be sure to watch the World Series! Go Rays!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A book I like

I like books, but one that stands out in my mind that I really thought was great was "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows". I read that book like five times, I just couldn't get enough of it. I think that it is insanely well written(oh, and by the way, if you haven't read the book, you probably shouldn't' read this blog, because it has spoilers). I really like how it's full of action and it has a little mystery to it as well. I think my favorite part is the battle of Hogwarts, all the way up to the battle at the end because it's a really long scene and it has a lot of depth to it, filled with some sad and happy parts. I also like the part when Ron has commented that Harry has stopped saying You-Know-Who's name. Harry says that it was just a bad habit he'd gotten into, and said "Voldemort". "No!" Ron yelled, but too late. Ron explained that anybody who said his name could be traceable. They then started gathering their belongings, but too late! They heard voices outside and knew that they had been found. Harry was surprised when Hermione pointed her wand at him, and jinxed the heck out of his face to disguise him. I really liked the drama that followed at Malfoy manner. I think that this book could be a candidate for one of the best books I've ever read in my life, and I strongly recommend it(I haven't read Brisinger yet, I heard that that's a pretty good book as well).

My Life Graph

This is my life graph that I made in Mr. Bergquist's class. I thought that it was a pretty cool project to do. As you can see, my life has had many up's and down's. As you can see, when I was about 1 1/2 I learned to walk, then when I was about 3 I got hit in the head with a brick, which wasn't fun at all. Also, when I was about three, me and my parents went to Hawaii, which was very fun. At about 4, I got my dog, Django, who's a German Sheppard. When I was about 4 1/2 I was attacked by two dogs that my neighbor far out in the woods owned. I don't know why, but for some reason they liked to let them loose, and those dogs had no training what-so-ever. My parents got real mad at the neighbors, but didn't say anything. When I was about six, I started playing golf, which was very fun. Now, on a good swing, I can drive the ball over 220 yards! I really enjoy golf. It's probably my second favorite sport after baseball. When I was 7 1/2 I got my finger slammed in a door. When I was 9, money was stolen from me. When I was 11, I accidentally kicked a wasp nest. When I was about 12 1/2 my select baseball team lost the championship game, which was heart-braking. Then, as you can see, I turned 13! You can zoom in on my life graph if you want to inspect in more closely.

About four years ago, I was playing my second year of minors Little League. It was our second-to-last game, and I still had never hit a home run. I really wanted to do it, because I knew that it would make my parents proud, and would also be very exciting. We were playing a Coupville team, which was very good at the time. We didn't have a very good team, and had a winning percentage of only about .400. Being this close to the last game of the season, we really wanted to show Coupville that we were not as bad as our record stated. Our coach had us arrive one hour early, so that we could do all of our warm-ups and stuff. The Coupville team arrived thirty minutes later. I looked over and saw all of their ginormous players. They had a few players that were like '5"10, and this was in minors! What the heck were they feeding those people? Anyway, the game started. They were blowing us away, like blowing dust off of a table. Our coach gave us a very inspiring talk at the start of the fourth inning. We were down 9-1 when the fourth started. But coach's talk seemed to do the trick. Our bats lit up, and, before us, or the audience knew what was happening, we had a tie game. We were the away team, and it was the top of the sixth inning, so we had to score a run, and then hold them. Our first two batters got out, and I was scheduled to be up third that inning. I had the butterflies so badly when I stepped up to the plate, my knees were shaking. They had put in one of their best pitchers to shut us down. But, on the first pitch, I crushed a homerun over the center field fence. So we took the lead, and the crowd cheered. The bottom of that inning, we held them to no runs, and won the game.

It was my first time going to Yosemite, and I was very excited. Me and my dad got up at about 6 a.m. We would catch the 7:00 ferry to get to the other side. We caught a plane to Sacramento, then rented a car and drove down to Yosemite. We arrived at the National Park at about 5 p.m. We located our lot that we had reserved, and went inside of our tent. It wasn't anything special, because both beds were much smaller than Queen size. The first night went pretty well.
The next day we had a lot in mind. We had a big day planned ahead of us. We would go on a huge hike, all the way up by Half-Dome, the legendary mountain that looks like one-half of it was removed, leaving a clean cut going straight down about 6,000 feet. The hike went very well, and the scenery was beautiful. There was so much wildlife there that it sounded like a chorus of squirrels, all chattering at the same time. The rodents were so tame that you could walk right up to one and practically hand feed them. That night, some of the workers at the park got drunk right outside of our tent. They were so loud that my dad went to the main office to complain about it.
The next day we just walked around. Out in the parking lot, there was about 15 deer, just eating off the apple trees. I got to hand feed them.
I went on a pony ride the next day, and it was really fun. It was at a small little camp that the Park offered. I got a really up-close view of Half Dome.
That trip was a wonderful experience for me, and I would love to go there again someday.
