It was my first time going to Yosemite, and I was very excited. Me and my dad got up at about 6 a.m. We would catch the 7:00 ferry to get to the other side. We caught a plane to Sacramento, then rented a car and drove down to Yosemite. We arrived at the National Park at about 5 p.m. We located our lot that we had reserved, and went inside of our tent. It wasn't anything special, because both beds were much smaller than Queen size. The first night went pretty well.
The next day we had a lot in mind. We had a big day planned ahead of us. We would go on a huge hike, all the way up by Half-Dome, the legendary mountain that looks like one-half of it was removed, leaving a clean cut going straight down about 6,000 feet. The hike went very well, and the scenery was beautiful. There was so much wildlife there that it sounded like a chorus of squirrels, all chattering at the same time. The rodents were so tame that you could walk right up to one and practically hand feed them. That night, some of the workers at the park got drunk right outside of our tent. They were so loud that my dad went to the main office to complain about it.
The next day we just walked around. Out in the parking lot, there was about 15 deer, just eating off the apple trees. I got to hand feed them.
I went on a pony ride the next day, and it was really fun. It was at a small little camp that the Park offered. I got a really up-close view of Half Dome.
That trip was a wonderful experience for me, and I would love to go there again someday.

September 16, 2008 at 8:21 PMHi Jack, sounds really fun! Could you add some photos of the scenery? It would be fun to see that. You're right about the beds though. I've never been there but tent pads definitely aren't all that big. Also, where did the pony ride go to?- Max's blog said...
